Complete Transparency
You have full ownership of your data. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and Google Play developer requirements, you can delete your Pillion account and all associated personal information at any time without penalty or friction.
How to Delete Your Account
We provide two direct methods to delete your account and personal data:
Method 1: Instant In-App Deletion (Recommended)
- Open the Pillion app on your mobile device.
- Tap on Profile in the bottom navigation bar.
- Select Privacy & Data.
- Tap Delete My Account.
- Type
DELETEinto the confirmation dialog and confirm. - Your account, auth sessions, and personal records are permanently erased immediately.
Method 2: Email Request to Grievance Officer
If you have uninstalled the app or cannot access your account, you can submit an email request:
- Send an email from your registered Google account email address to [email protected].
- Use the subject line:
Delete Pillion Account Request. - State your registered name and request permanent account deletion.
- Our team will process your request within 48 to 72 hours and send a confirmation email once data erasure is complete.
What Gets Deleted
When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently purged from our systems:
- User Profile: Name, email address, profile photo, and unique Google ID linkage.
- Identity & Verification Records: Verified work email association, Aadhaar name-match metadata, last 4 digits record, and DL/RC verification statuses.
- Commute Data: All saved commute routes, pickup/drop coordinates, commute schedules, and ride match histories.
- Active Sessions & Messages: All active authentication tokens and in-app communications.
- Identity Document Photos: Any encrypted DL/RC document images (which are normally deleted immediately post-review) are completely wiped.
What Is Kept (Plain Truth)
We believe in total honesty about data retention:
- Personal Data: None. Zero personal identifying information is retained after account deletion.
- Regulatory Audit Trails: Immutable administrative action audit logs (such as timestamped records of security decisions or statutory compliance actions) are retained as required by Indian legal obligations under the DPDP Act 2023. These logs are stored without active user profile associations.
- Aggregated Metrics: Anonymized, non-identifiable statistical aggregates (e.g. total rides pooled on a corridor) may be retained for system reliability analytics.
Partial Consent Withdrawal
If you wish to remove specific verification badges without deleting your entire account, you can do so at any time in the app under Profile → Privacy & Data by withdrawing individual consent for:
- Aadhaar Verification (clears Aadhaar verified badge and associated verification records)
- Corporate Work Email (clears corporate badge)
- Document Review (clears vehicle/rider verification)
